Rustbelt Radio

Pittsburgh Indymedia's weekly radio program featuring news from the grassroots, news overlooked by the corporate media.

One of my favorite websites has a great radio show RUSTBELT RADIO.
Pittsburgh Indymedia's weekly radio program featuring news from the grassroots, news overlooked by the corporate media.

On this week's show...

  • Thousands march nationwide on May Day for immigrant rights and an end to raids and deportations
  • Environmental justice organizers kick off Biojustice 2007 in Boston
  • Media Minutes gives this week's report on the intersection of media and democracy
  • an interview with Staughton Lynd on Ohio's Supermax prison in Youngstown and the history of the Lucasville uprising
BTW I first met Staughton Lynn when we use to go to Tri-State Conference On Steel meetings.
Staughton is a real radical Lawyer that helped Local 1397 USWA open the books in court against United States Steel to find out what they planned to do with the Fed Money that was earmarked for air pollution control at The Homestead Works. They wanted to use the money to build a new mill in Erie Pa. The lawsuit put a stop to that. Staughton was at Yale with Howard Zinn.

You can listen to past shows.

Independent media activists and organizers from Chiapas and Oaxaca Mexico speak about the benefits and challenges of indigenous media-making in southern Mexico
The Coalition of Immokalee Workers declares victory against McDonald's in their fight for dignity and fair wages
Environmental action against deforestation of the Rospuda Valley in Poland
Rustbelt Radio visits the Steel Mills to Windmills rally on the National Day of Climate Action
United Steelworkers' Lawyer Dan Kovalik speaks about the connections between the Chiquita Fruit Company, Drummond Mining, Paramilitaries and Human Rights Abuses in Colombia
We take a look at the case of Native American political prisoner Leonard Peltier on the 31st anniversary of his arrest

And lots more, all archived on their site.

Last nite Willie Nelson was on The People Speak Radio show. I've written about this great show on the blog before.
Their archives include interviews with Jesse Jackson, Noam Chomsky, Pete Seeger, Howard Zinn, Chevy Chase, Korey Rowe, Ed Asner, Tommy Chong, Michael Berg, Wangari Maathai and more!
Please e-mail the Producer and request Rage Against The Machine
I know you can do it Mike.
