Eli Lilly's corruption involving Zyprexa

MindFreedom is the home of Support Coalition International. I was at the founding conference in NYC 1990 and was a member for many years. SCI fights Psychiatric Abuse... Some folks might think that SCI is a Radical Organization but I disagree. I have said many times that I am pro-choice when it comes to Psych Meds but Anti-ECT. This is the latest fight that David Oaks and friends have been waging.

The New York Times ran a new story on 23 March 2007 that again exposes corruption by Eli Lilly in its promotion of its psychiatric drug Zyprexa. The Times has run quite a number of pieces ever since the formerly-secret Zyprexa files were exposed by PsychRights founder attorney Jim Gottstein, who leaked the documents to NY Times journalist Alex Berenson.

Despite The New York Times widespread coverage of the secret files, Eli Lilly did not name The NY Times in its request for a permanent order from US District Court, although the judge himself claimed The NY Times played played an active role in obtaining the documents.

Mainstream media is usually so silent when it comes to covering psychiatric drug hazards, that this silence may have helped motivate the lawyer and doctor who originally blew the whistle on Eli Lilly documents. Court documents claim The NY Times may have offered to cover the story as long as the paper was promised an exclusive. Jim Gottstein is founder of PsychRights, which is a sponsor group of MindFreedom International.

Got to their website for the whole story and latest updates.
