Ann Coulter, the controversial conservative columnist, wasted little time raising the heat index at the University of Pittsburgh's David Lawrence Hall last night.

Speaking at the request of the College Republicans and Young America's Foundation, Ms. Coulter talked about everything from Hillary Clinton and the upcoming presidential elections to the war in Iraq, liberal sissies, and the "godless liberals" and their hate for America.

When asked what she would do if ever elected president, she responded with a smile and said, "Deport all liberals."

About an hour before the lecture, nearly 40 students from the Pitt College Democrats and other organizations protested outside the entrance to David Lawrence Hall.

Holding posters that read "Honk Your Horn If You Hate Ann Coulter," "Home Grown Terrorist" and other slogans, many of the students said Ms. Coulter says what she says for the shock value.

"She spreads fear, confusion and hatred and that's the goal of a terrorist," said Dan Mocan of Lawrenceville.

"There's no reason to tell anyone how to live," said Alexandra Jefferds of South Oakland. "Everything she says is targeted toward groups I identify with, particularly the gay community. I know so many people in the gay community that are wonderful, and her comments only help to fuel hate."

When Ms. Coulter stepped to podium, she was treated to cheers from the more than 800 people in attendance.

Except for an occasional outburst and one young man being escorted out for what can be characterized as excessive heckling, the crowd was generally respectful and waited until Ms. Coulter completed her speech before asking any questions.

She opened her speech to cheers after mentioning how yesterday was the beginning of Holy Week for Christians and today is the beginning of Passover for the Jews but for liberals it's known as the first week of April.

Then, she talked about Ms. Clinton receiving $36 million in campaign funds.

"She got $10 million from herself and another $10 million from Bill Clinton's girlfriends," she said. "If you donate to Hillary's fund raising, you're eligible for something she calls pre-pardoning."

She also took former President Jimmy Carter to task for his handling of the Iranian crisis.

"What led to the Iranian crisis was Jimmy Carter allowed the shah of Iran to be toppled," she said. "That gave Islamic crazies their first real foothold in the Middle East. That worked out really well. We are still dealing with that today."

She concluded her speech by telling the audience that liberals have been attacking America for 50 years and "it's time to for us to hit back hard."

Afterward, Ms. Coulter fielded several questions from the audience. Among them was: Considering the controversy surrounding your recent use of an anti-gay epithet to describe John Edwards, would you use the "n-word" to describe people of racial minority?

Ms. Coulter responded that anyone who compares the "f-word" with the "n-word" is a racist, so thank you, Mr. Liberal.
